So Far Away

So today was quite a good day. Went to watch movie and have dinner with some of my classmates at dhoby. we watched ah boys to men part 2 and I really enjoyed it because it was both hilarious and touching to me.

the dinner was ok. I didn't have much appetite to eat these days. I think it's because I'm feeling quite nervous yet excited about army as the days draw closer..

shall keep this post short..

here's a song I've been listening to recently. It's titled So Far Away by A7X. It was composed in honour of one of their band members The Rev who passed away quite some time back. But to me the song is more about leaving your loved ones and maybe sort of related to me going to army soon hehe.

Lyrics:

"So Far Away" Lyrics:
Never feared for anything
Never shamed but never free
A life to heal the broken heart with all that it could
Lived a life so endlessly
Saw beyond what others see
I tried to heal your broken heart with all that I could

Will you stay?
Will you stay away forever?

How do I live without the ones I love?
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
Place and time always on my mind
I have so much to say but you're so far away

Plans of what our futures hold
Foolish lies of growing old
It seems we're so invincible
The truth is so cold

A final song, a last request
A perfect chapter laid to rest
Now and then I try to find a place in my mind

Where you can stay
You can stay away forever

How do I live without the ones I love?
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
Place and time always on my mind
I have so much to say but you're so far away

Sleep tight, I'm not afraid
The ones that we love are here with me
Lay away a place for me
Cause as soon as I'm done I'll be on my way
To live eternally

How do I live without the ones I love?
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
Place and time always on my mind
And the light you left remains but it's so hard to stay
When I have so much to say but you're so far away

I love you
You were ready
The pain is strong and urges rise
But I'll see you
When He lets me
Your pain is gone, your hands untied

So far away
And I need you to know
So far away
And I need you to, need you to know

My favourite line of the lyrics is "It seems we're so invincible, The truth is so cold."

from climbing shoes to army boots

today was a good day :)

all 3 of us were late today for our ippt training cause the rainy weather made us nua. but we still went ahead with it in the end when the weather cleared up. I realise that I face an even greater challenge than my 2.4, which is my SBJ. My SBJ really sucks now. sigh. I hope I'll be able to perform well for my SBJ in the army. May my legs grow wings or something.

all the stations were ok. my 2.4 went well today even though I didn't meet my expected timing. Not getting stupid stitches any more. It really is true that the more you run the less stitches you'll get. But well I guess that applies to all sports. The more you climb, the less flappers you get? HAH OK MAYBE EXCEPT THAT. but maybe that is true since my hand is so rough from all the climbing that I will rarely get flappers. I still rmb getting so many flappers once I started climbing after As when my skin was still too damn smooth.

after training, we went to eat mac for lunch (probably the last mac meal before I enlist) then I went back to school to slack in the OAC store before climbing training started. well it was not really climbing training today cause they were doing static exercises instead, while I was helping jups with the setting up and testing of routes on the rock wall. indian came halfway and we climbed together to test the routes. I can't believe I misread a route. I thought there were two routes: light blue and dark blue. turns out it was all just one route: blue -.- but I managed to top the light blue route after falling 3 times at the various cruxes. luckily the wall has cracks which can be used :P but I grunted a lot to complete that 'route', I've never grunted so much before in all my climbing life. when I came down after finishing the 'route' and heard from jups that it was just one route and not a separate route by itself, I was like dafuq. but at least it means the light blue route is possible hehe. I would give it a 6C or 6C+ grading. after that I tried the dark blue 'route' for fun which was impossibru at the last crux because the next tile was just too damn far. but at least I managed to complete 3/4 of the 'route' and so it was a rather satisfying day.

after that indian left with his friends and I stayed behind to listen to the juniors discuss with MG about upcoming plans. kinda sad I can't join in all these events :( damn sian..

overall today was a happy day :)

army life in 9 days. I will make my 2 months in BMT a worthwhile experience. RECRUIT KO Y H HERE I COME.

WTF

WTF. Welcome To February.

I'm pretty sure this month will hold many WTF moments for me, considering I'm going into the army really soon and it'll be a completely different lifestyle from my usual daily routine.

So the first day of February was well spent :D

went to school in the morning to meet up with chee and nic to train for our ippt. even though I was damn sian because I was stuck in a jam on a bus, it was all worth it because today's training was really good. my 4 stations were okay except for SBJ as usual. sometimes I can jump, sometimes I just can't. I hope the army will train me enough such that I can clear my SBJ to get a gold :O then there was 2.4. Felt really determined today and for the first time I didn't stitch while running! and didn't do my stupid awkward running posture of raising my head so high as if I'm gasping for air during the last few rounds. that always screws up my momentum and slows me down. Shall aim for a better timing during the next training. it's time to be intense and train hard because army life is soon to take over.

after that we rested and bought drinks from the canteen to cool down. then walked around the school for fun and saw the new SH1s that just entered. I hope they would enjoy their time in NJ even though they would face many depressing moments throughout the two years :/ then we went to play soccer at the field. when we finally stopped cause of exhaustion, we headed up to the canteen again to get drinks and cool down. again.

then we left to bukit timah hill that area where we ate our lunch at some street side restaurant which was quite nice. llmx_wadever came halfway and then we headed off for bukit timah hill. llmx led us to the open field which he always talked to us about. The route was quite long and tiring. there was even a part at the start where we had to climb up some rocks lol. which I loved a lot of course :D but hiking there was worth it when we got there. I never seen such a beautiful area before, with the little guilin (did i spell it right?) rock behind us and shady trees all around us. We played soccer there and had a lot of fun. it was such a nice place to have a picnic and lepak. even though the sun was unbearable today and I got sunburnt, I really enjoyed going there. I also feel that the open field is kinda romantic too if you spend some time there with the special someone.

so anyway, when we were finally too tired and it was getting late, we hiked towards the nearby bus stop and discussed our plans for future class gatherings. Ok not really future, but just within the next two weeks since some of us are going into army soon. Am really thankful that chee is going in the same day and time as me, luckily it won't be so sian on the first day since I know there's always a close friend around for me to confide in. took bus back to school to join the juniors for climbing training.

not many of them were there at first but soon more of them came once they were done with their orientation stuff. today's training was okay I guess. jups tasked me to set an easy endurance route on the tsunami wall by giving many jugs. pervyboy helped me with it too but when I was done with it I realise it's not easy setting an easy endurance route on the tsunami wall, because well, it's the tsunami wall. and even though I gave mostly jugs, it was still quite tiring to complete it lol. hope jups will vet it and make it easier som ehow cause I didn't really do a great job in making it easy :( so after training, the juniors discussed about their plans for many events such as their recruitment camp, CCA open house and CCA showcase. can't believe that they're gonna be seniors soon haha. I hope that things will get better once their juniors come in, because sometimes, it's because of a common interest that bonds a team together..

I've been thinking about the future of the climbing team and I'm not gonna lie but it gets me worried sometimes. Maybe I'll post more on that in a separate post next time, before I enlist...

so reached home rather late cause we stayed in school for very long. had my dinner and then went to bathe and now I'm here, waiting for my dota to be done with it's stupid long 2GB update... really tired from all the physical activity today but it feels good :)

shall end off here!

"but I know inevitably it will not last."
