Haven't blogged in quite a long while and a lot has happened recently.
I've been considering whether I should go for an overseas mission at the end of the year with my battalion. It's in California in the US and I'll get to train with the US Marines (how cool is that?) but that will mean that I have to voluntarily extend my service (meaning I'll ORD slightly later) still I think it's worth it because it's a once in a lifetime experience :) one day when I'm some old man, I can tell my son before he goes into NS that I used to train with US marines HAHAHAHA. But on a serious note, I'm quite interested to go for such a mission even though it means more chiong sua.
Recently I've gone outfield too and it was shagged but fun. Going outfield again next week :/ actually I'm fine with going outfield and all, I just don't like how outfield kills off my momentum to train up my physical fitness. Going outfield really tires me out such that when I return back to camp I am way too shagged to work out. I've been training a lot lately on my running and I've been doing a lot of calisthenics exercises. Hopefully I can become fitter:) exercising keeps my mind off worries and troubles.
I'm still slightly indecisive of my future. So far I know I'm gonna study chemical engineering in NUS under a scholarship but I think I should aim higher and get a better scholarship. As for the choice of course/uni, honestly I think chem engine does suit me and NUS is already a top notched university in the world so I don't see why my parents insist on me going overseas and getting a scholarship from a company instead. Sigh I just don't want to think about all this shit that I have to plan for, right now I just want to focus on completing my national service. That's what I like about being in camp sometimes, I can just shut off all my civilian problems. I don't understand why people can feel so stressed being in camp when I'm so carefree. But oh well, I'll have to face reality again once I ORD in about 5 months time.
Oh yeah, I've also got an award recently. I was awarded the Battalion Best Commander Award. Truth be told, I think there are many others who deserve such recognition too, but I'm glad that my efforts have been appreciated and I'll try and continue to strive for excellence. Of course, without all the SCS training, guidance from the senior commanders etc., I wouldn't be who I am today. But most importantly, I want to thank my men . Honestly I don't give a damn about the battalion and all the screwed up shit that the higher ups throw at us. My only motivation is my men; because they put their trust and respect in me as their leader and I will never let them down.
Training is going to get more intense and I hope I'll be able to tank through it.
Time to sleep :)
