15 days of '16

It's currently midnight and the date is 15 January 2016.

Sorry for not updating for so long, as usual I've been busy with everything that I could never find the proper time to gather my thoughts and get initiative to type this out.

So much has happened since the last time I blogged. Let me recount everything:

Turned 21 on December 6. I was just really happy to celebrate that day doing my favourite sport with my favourite person :) Sab organised a mini celebration at CA with some of my batch team mates. It really appreciated everyone for coming down to climb with me just cause it was my birthday. Honestly I wouldn't have minded not having a celebration but I guess it was a bonus in the end :)

Also had a small reunion with some of the NJClimbers at Fat Boys where we had lunch and I got a nice jacket as a birthday gift! then had a bowling session with some of my JC classmates and they got a cake for me and a damn atas watch as a birthday gift!

My family wrote me a card too which I really liked haha. Not forgetting of course, Sab who bought me a nice wallet :)

But gifts aside, I'm just really grateful to spend time with old and new friends again. The time that someone sacrifices to spend with me is something I cherish way more than any other gift.

The next significant event after my birthday would be the Qingdao Rocktrip with teamNUS! There's just so much to talk about that I think I'll just summarise it. It was quite a psyched trip cause I managed to finish many routes and at the same time it was also insightful because I discovered some flaws in the way I climb that I am working on right now. Got to bond more with my team mates too and overall it was a very fun and fulfilling trip! It was unfortunate though that weeps got badly injured during the trip. But anyway, he's looking strong as ever right now. really undying.

Don't know what else to say so I'm gonna skip to the next significant event.

So after returning back to Singapore, it was back to climbing plastic again and self-training. Felt that I did improve slightly ever since I came back and I think I'm finally surpassing this plateau that I hit ever since I promoted.

Also celebrated the span's birthday and got him some climbing/training stuff. hopefully he will find it useful!

Oh yeah, also celebrated New Year's Eve at leon's house with some of the batch mates where we cooked our own food and stayed up after the countdown haha.

Hmm.. besides that I can't think of anything else. It's Friday now and it's the last day of the first week of school. I guess that's the reason why I suddenly felt like blogging. It's because school has started and I feel a little overwhelmed. It feels like I started off the first week of school with the wrong foothold and it's like some false start on a route. I don't know. I just feel uneasy after this first week. Maybe I just need to adapt. But school life has always been this way, it was like this in Sem 1. But I guess it's up to me: whether or not I want it to be the same or not. You know what I really want now? I just want this sem to end as quickly as possible and for Year 2 to start. It feels like the older we get, the more complicated the concept of friendship becomes.

You go to uni and choose your group of friends. Sometimes the group of friends choose you. You form your own cliques or join others. You let yourself be sucked into the pre-allocated module called Majority. You just want to fit in and not be excluded. You just want to be known, want to be popular. But the irony is, when you're excluded, you become more well known and more notorious. In the end, after you graduate, most of these groups will just fall apart; built by forced relationships that you knew from the start wouldn't last. So I challenge whoever is reading this. Go out there and find a place you naturally belong in. If where you are right now doesn't fit you, don't bother adapting/changing yourself just to be included. Be more accommodating to those that feel left out. There could be a time when you might feel the same way too. If they still don't feel like they belong, there's no need to force it and just let it be. Just because someone is different doesn't mean that they are bad people. In just a semester of uni life, I think I know who my real friends are out there and where I really belong. So I'll stick by it and hope it'll last throughout the 4 years. More importantly, I hope these friendships will last even after that. I see no point in making so many friends with so many temporary people when they won't matter any more next time. It might be a very selfish thought to have, but I think having a few good friends will suffice for me.

I am really sorry for all these deep thoughts at 1am. Think I'll sleep soon cause I have an 8am lecture tomorrow haha.

Anyway, upcoming events that's happening soon:

Gravical. first comp of the year. hopefully I can get inter finals for the first time :)
reservist. sigh. but it's not that bad since I'll get to see everyone again!

and not so soon, might be going to grampians to climb for a week during the holidays with some of the NJClimbers after this semester ends! Looking forward to another rocktrip cause natural bouldering is really very fun.

that's all for now. Don't know when I'll blog again but I hope I can find the time to do so.
